Who is NRS?
NRS is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), responsible for decommissioning 14 nuclear sites from Berkeley and Dungeness A to Harwell, Winfrith and beyond, while also generating clean power at our Maentwrog hydroelectric plant.
Hunterston B joined us on 1 April 2026 as the first AGR site to be decommissioned by NRS. Hinkley Point B will follow in autumn 2026. As more AGR sites join us over the coming decade, our mission continues to grow in scale, purpose and national significance.
This work is unlike anything done before, requiring innovation, adaptability and world class technical expertise. Our teams are continually refining how we approach decommissioning, applying new technologies, collaborating across the NDA group and the supply chain and developing solutions tailored to each site’s unique challenges and communities.
With one of the most experienced nuclear workforces in the world, we are restoring land for future generations and we’re looking for talented professionals who want to be part of this ambitious, transformational mission.
