Senior System Engineer

This is your opportunity to step into a role where your expertise directly influences engineering standards on a site of national significance.
As a Senior System Engineer you will focus on managing asset care, modifications, and System Health to support Hunterston B through its decommissioning journey. You’ll work alongside experienced teams, developing the technical solutions that keep a complex industrial site evolving during decommissioning. You'll be trusted to solve challenging engineering problems, influence important technical decisions and play a key role in shaping the site's future.
What will you be doing
You'll be responsible for developing engineering solutions that support a wide range of site activities, from modifying existing systems, developing maintenance schedules, manging asset care activities, providing technical input for new installations to supporting fault finding activities.
Your expertise will help ensure engineering solutions are safe, compliant and practical, while supporting the site's long-term decommissioning strategy. You'll be involved in solving real engineering challenges where your judgement, experience and technical knowledge to make a visible difference to site safety and operation while supporting the station on its decommissioning timeline.
- Support and assure the effectiveness of System Health for assigned systems
- Propose modifications to plant to improve reliability and replace obsolete components
- Support fault finding activities and propose solutions to avoid repeat events
Who are we looking for
You're an experienced System Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, I&C or Civil) working on industrial or process plant, ready to take the next step into a senior role or already operating at that level. You bring strong technical knowledge, combined with a practical understanding of plant systems, and thrive in an environment where safety and performance are paramount
You’ll have a solid foundation in engineering principles, supported by recognised qualifications and a commitment to continuous professional development. Experience in nuclear and regulatory frameworks is desired.
- A relevant HNC and experience or a degree in an Engineering related field
- Membership of a relevant professional body (or working towards), with a clear commitment to CPD
- Strong experience in System Engineering roles,
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence, mentor, and contribute across multi-disciplinary teams
