Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

"Dungeness A is undertaking an exciting mission to decommission a legacy nuclear power station with the objective to achieve full site clearance. Crucial to this mission is the development of suitably qualified and experienced persons to undertake the decommissioning work. The EHSSQ department and the site trainer are crucial to the success of Dungeness and that of the wider industry. The site intends to create a training facility for classroom and practical training with a key focus on training Radiological Monitoring apprentices through to full competency.
If you have a passion for managing early career development and an aptitude for a variety of technical, vocational, and safety-based training, then we would love to hear from you. The role will coordinate the various apprenticeships offered by the site as well as delivering radiological protection and safety-based training."
Key Deliverables
- Ensure personal and professional development and training of radiological staff to deliver an effective and suitably qualified and experienced function. This will include delivery of classroom based learning as well as practical demonstrations and support to on-the-job learning, providing coaching and mentoring as required.
- Leading on the development of training facilities and programmes for the delivery of radiological protection and safety training.
- To prepare and develop a range of resources conducive to training of various disciplines and technical abilities.
- Liaising with Line Managers to ensure adequate on-job training and experience is provided to apprentices.
- Monitor performance/standards and act as directed or provide advice as necessary to maintain radiological and safety standards to improve performance.
- Contribute to the continued improvements and targets as specified by EHSSQ team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to at least NQF Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent in a post related subject).
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification or relevant radiological protection qualification preferred.
- Practical experience in own speciality within relevant industry.
- Knowledge of site arrangements for IRR and EPR compliance.
- Experience of delivering classroom based training preferred.

- The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee’s annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.
