Radiological Protection Clerk

Are you looking for a role where you can make a real impact in a unique, safety‑critical environment? Do you enjoy working with people, supporting compliance, and being part of a team where every day brings something different? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join the radiological protection team at Dungeness one of the first points of contact for anyone arriving on site and a key part of maintaining high standards across our operations.

This part‑time role (2 days a week) offers a chance to work closely with a wide range of individuals, support essential compliance activities, and build valuable experience in a highly regulated environment. You’ll be supported with on‑the‑job training and work within the wider EHSS&Q team, helping to uphold the standards expected in a site undergoing important compliance and oversight activities.

What will you be doing?

As part of the radiological protection team, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the site’s Dosimetry Services and ensuring compliance with relevant Ionising Radiations Regulations and Radiological Safety Rules. You’ll manage key record‑keeping processes, support both routine and non‑routine reporting, and help keep essential systems accurate, up to date and fully aligned with site requirements.

You’ll also provide high‑quality administrative support across the function, helping to organise meetings, process expenses, manage correspondence and assist in developing efficient administrative processes. Your attention to detail and ability to work with a wide variety of people will make you a valued and reliable part of the team.

Key aspects of your role will include:

  • Maintaining dosimetry services and record systems to support IRR and Radiological Safety Rule compliance.
  • Producing and managing routine and non‑routine dose reports and associated documentation.
  • Delivering high‑quality administrative support, including meeting coordination, travel arrangements and customer queries.
  • Ensuring databases are accurately updated and contributing to the development of efficient administrative systems.

Who are we looking for?

You’ll be someone who brings strong organisational skills, a positive approach to customer interaction and an ability to work well in a busy, people‑focused environment. As one of the first points of contact for individuals coming onto site, you’ll be confident engaging with a wide range of people and adapting quickly to new challenges. You should be comfortable using databases and office IT systems, with a willingness to learn and develop within a highly regulated setting.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be educated to NQF Level 2 (or equivalent) or have relevant demonstrable experience. While knowledge of IRR compliance and dosimetry arrangements is desirable, full on‑the‑job training will be provided. What matters most is your reliability, your attention to detail and your commitment to supporting safe and compliant site operations.

You’ll bring:

  • An NQF Level 2 / NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Confidence using databases and IT office systems, along with strong organisational abilities.
  • A customer‑focused approach and the ability to adapt to varied daily challenges.
  • A willingness to learn and contribute to high standards in a regulated environment.
