Production Technician (Maintenance)

Are you someone who thrives in a safety critical environment, enjoys hands‑on technical work, and wants to play a vital role in keeping a complex site running safely and efficiently? Are you looking for a role where variety, responsibility and teamwork come together, offering real scope to develop your skills beyond a single discipline?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly skilled Maintenance Team that sits at the heart of site operations. You’ll be trusted to deliver essential maintenance and operational activities, support continuous improvement, and help uphold the highest standards of safety, compliance and environmental performance across the site.

What will you be doing

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, you’ll be a key contributor to day‑to‑day site operations, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems. From supporting plant operations to working within radiological and contaminated areas, you’ll follow robust procedures and quality standards while adapting to changing priorities and challenges. Your role will be varied, practical and essential to safe, compliant operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering maintenance and operational activities across site plant and systems, including fire systems, sewage plant and PAT activities.
  • Working safely within prescribed radiological, electrical and mechanical safety rules, holding safety documents where authorised.
  • Supporting fault‑finding, minor projects and future improvements within your level of competence.
  • Contributing to stores duties, stock control and accurate record keeping to support maintenance delivery.

Who are we looking for

We’re looking for a motivated team player with a strong safety mindset who can work accurately from both written and verbal instructions. You’ll be comfortable operating in a regulated, safety‑critical environment and willing to adapt stepping outside your core discipline when needed to support the wider team. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach will be key to your success.

You’ll bring an appropriate technical qualification at NQF Level 3 (or equivalent), such as City & Guilds or BTEC ONC, along with relevant hands‑on experience in a technical or maintenance setting. Experience within the nuclear industry, plant operations, or an understanding of radiological and environmental regulations would be an advantage, but is not essential. What matters most is your ability to work safely, follow quality assurance processes, and contribute positively to a collaborative team focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
