Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

IT Project Manager

"We are looking for four highly skilled and experienced IT Project Managers to oversee and manage IT Projects within Nuclear Decommissioning, reporting to the IT Programme Manager. The roles will cover strategic Projects, for which managing the timely success of projects will support the planned growth in line with external commitments and regulatory expectations.
These roles will be key in the delivery of critical business priorities and the successful applicants will have a proven track record in delivering complex projects, including working with senior business leaders and stakeholders from all parts of the business (including functions, project, sites, IT) and key external organisations.
Training and development opportunities will be provided to keep skills up-to-date with industry standards."
Working in a hybrid arrangement, the roles can be based at any of our sites across the UK and will require flexibility to travel to other sites on an ad hoc basis. It is expected that you will work at an NRS Site for at least two days per week.
Key Deliverables
- Project Planning and Management: Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets. Highlighting project progress as per the required governance.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including project teams, senior management, and external partners.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Resource Management: Manage allocated resources effectively to meet project objectives.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all IT projects adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation: Utilising internal tools (Project for the Web) to maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reporting, meetings outputs, project plans and mandatory documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Educated to NQF level 5 in a relevant discipline (essential).
- Proven experience in the successful delivery of multiple IT projects (up to £1m), in complex environments including experience of infrastructure, networks, platform upgrades, IT systems integration and transformational project implementation within a regulated sector (desirable).
- Liaising with multiple suppliers for project delivery and success, including effective management of in-scope supplier delivery (desirable).
- Experience of public sector IT Procurement processes (desirable).
- Experience in implementing projects across multiple sites and locations with a view to consolidation and aligning ways of working (desirable).
- Extensive experience of the full project life-cycle and project management methodologies within an IT environment (desirable).
- Able to work openly and co-operatively with others, both within immediate project teams and throughout the business and supplier base (desirable).
- Able to work under pressure and ensuring delivery to cost, quality and time (desirable).
- Strong Stakeholder engagement, interpersonal and communication skills (desirable).
- Qualified to APM or Prince2 Practitioner, or equivalent (essential). #INDOR

- The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee’s annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.

There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
