Industrial Safety Advisor
Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS), the NDA’s subsidiary responsible for decommissioning the UK’s first-generation nuclear sites, is recruiting for a role at Hunterston A Site that supports the sites decommissioning activities
Are you someone who thrives in a fast‑moving, hands‑on environment where your decisions directly shape how safely complex projects are delivered? If you enjoy working on challenging decommissioning and construction activities — and you want a role where your professional judgement actually matters — this could be a strong fit for you.
You’ll join a supportive, solutions‑focused team that handles some of the most interesting industrial work on site. The pace is quick, the projects are varied, and no two days look the same. If you’re confident working across high‑hazard environments and you bring a calm, practical approach to safety, you’ll feel right at home here.
What will you be doing
You’ll play a key role in shaping how industrial safety is delivered across a portfolio of high‑hazard decommissioning and construction projects. Much of your work will involve guiding teams, setting clear expectations and helping project managers make well‑informed decisions that keep people safe and work moving.
You’ll provide day‑to‑day leadership on conventional safety, turning complex requirements into practical, workable solutions. You’ll influence decisions, undertake assurance activities, identify issues early, and help teams embed strong safety practices. Your work will range from advising on site activities to supporting investigations and championing improvements.
Who are we looking for
You’ll bring a wealth of experience in industrial and construction safety, ideally within a high‑hazard environment. You should feel confident interpreting UK safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations, and translating requirements into actions people can understand and follow. Strong communication & coaching skills are essential, as you’ll be influencing a wide range of teams and stakeholders.
To do well in this role, you’ll combine technical competence with good judgement, a steady approach and a genuine commitment to helping others work safely and proactively work within teams to find solutions to challenges that arise
We’re looking for someone with:
- An NQF Level 6 qualification and a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience in an industrial safety role, ideally in nuclear or another high‑hazard sector.
- A strong working knowledge of UK safety legislation and Site Licence conditions.
- Membership of a relevant professional institute.
If you’re motivated by improving standards, helping teams deliver safely and making a meaningful impact across complex projects, this role offers plenty of opportunity to do just that
