Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

“Our team has responsibility for managing engineering oversight across the Harwell and Winfrith region to ensure cyber security risks to our Operational Technology (OT) systems are documented and then managed through the OT lifecycle. The role will interface to a number of operational site and programme teams to ensure that regionally NRS meets high standards of cyber security management.

This is a busy role within the facilities across sites, and your role will be pivotal to assist with the delivery and ongoing development of clearly documented risk management and supporting maintenance and assessment activities across our buildings that use OT systems. Attention to detail with experience processing and administering documentation combined with a willingness and capability to undertake field work as well as knowledge of historic and emergent threats in this critical IT/cyber area is key. I would welcome a well organised, process driven team member with relevant knowledge and experience, who can work well within the departments and with other functions across the sites."

Key Deliverables

  • Manage C&I / cyber engineering support to the sites.
  • As a customer-focused individual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery within his or her range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.
  • Liaise and consult with system engineers and other stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
  • Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality on Site.
  • Produce and/or approve project technical specifications.
  • Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Appropriate HNC, National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 5; preferably degree level (NQF level 6) or working towards
  • Significant experience in a practising disciplined Engineering role (C&I / Cyber bias) on industrial plant
  • Significant experience of nuclear and/or conventional project engineering
  • Detailed understanding of relevant Company and/or national engineering standards

Due to the nature of this role, candidates must hold or be eligible for Security Clearance (SC). This requires a minimum of 5 years' residency in the UK and a clean criminal record.

You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year).
